Worldpay lawyer goes to Halma as its first-ever general counsel
Halma plc, a FTSE 100 company based in Great Britain, has appointed Ruwan De Soyza (in the photo above) as its first general counsel and secretary. The company, which specializes in healthcare and environmental products, created the GC role specifically for De Soyza. As such, the company says he will have global responsibility for the group’s legal and compliance affairs and become a member of Halma’s executive board and will be based in the headquarters in Amersham UK.
Before joining Halma, Ruwan was deputy general counsel at Worldpay Inc, a payment processing company. Before that, he was senior group legal counsel at Standard Chartered, and worked at both consultants Accenture and the law firm Clifford Chance.
Andrew Williams, CEO of Halma, said in a statement: “Ruwan’s new role at Halma will be critical in helping our companies to grow and scale, both organically and through acquisition. He brings new capabilities and expertise to Halma that will make him a valuable addition to the leadership team.”
