Western Dental’s GC Miller gets a promotion to chief legal officer
Dental provider Western Dental has promoted General Counsel Jeffrey Miller to be president and chief legal officer. If Western Dental follows the path of Microsoft and others who have promoted their GCs to similar roles, Miller will take more of an analytical and strategic role when it comes to the privately held company’s legal issues
Miller joined Western Dental in 2013 and, as executive VP, general counsel and chief compliance opfficer, has been on the executive team while overseeing the legal, compliance, human resources, and public policy activities of the company.
With degrees both in law and healthcare management Miller has worked at healthcare organizations since 2005, when he joined DaVita Inc., an international leader in dialysis care, where he was deputy GC. In 2011, he joined Imaging Advantage, LLC, a radiology practice management company, as GC and chief compliance officer. Prior to his work in-house, he was an associate at Latham & Watkins, where he represented and advised public and private companies, including mergers, acquisitions and strategic transactions for hospital systems, pharmaceutical companies and other healthcare-related organizations.
“We congratulate Jeff on his promotion to President and Chief Legal Officer,” said Daniel D. Crowley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Western Dental. “He is a natural leader and someone the team consistently looks to for insights, ideas, inspiration and counsel as we work together to build an enduring organization that provides vital access to affordable, high quality oral health services in the communities we serve.”
Miller has a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a Masters of Public Health, with a concentration in Health Finance and Management, from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.
