Tom Anderson new Citigroup Chief Compliance Officer
Citigroup announced that the bank has promoted Tom Anderson to be its top compliance oficial. Anderson, currently head of compliance for the firm’s personal banking and wealth management business takes over from Mary McNiff, who had been in the role since June 2020. McNiff steps away from the role following a $400 million 2020 settlement with U.S. financial regulators.
Anderson began his industry career at Citi as a management trainee in in the 1980s and moved up through the rank over the next two decades. He left his position as Citi’s chief financial officer and chief administrative officer in the commercial business group for American Express in 2008, where he was chief executive officer of global banking until 2013. Then he rejoined Citi last summer following a seven-year stint at JPMorgan, where he was head of compliance for consumer and community banking at JPMorgan.
