Univision, a Spanish-language content company in the United States, announced the appointment of Pilar Ramos (pictured) as general counsel and corporate secretary. Ramos will be taking over the role from Amy Tenbrink and Glenn Dryfoos, who have been acting as interim co- general counsels. Both Tenbrink and Dryfoos will be reporting to Ramos while taking on expanded responsibilities as Univision completes its nearly $4.8 billion merger with Grupo Televisa.
The merger deal is expected to close in the second half of 2021, subject to the receipt of regulatory approvals in the United States and Mexico. Ramos will also assume the role of general counsel for Televisa-Univision once the merger is completed.
Ramos joins Univision from Mastercard, where she served in various leadership roles during her 18-year career with the company. She joined Mastercard as regional counsel for Latin American and the Caribbean and most recently was executive vice president & general counsel of North America. Prior to Mastercard, Ramos served as assistant general counsel at DIRECTV Latin America and as general counsel of DeRemate.com before that. Ramos started her career as a corporate associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett law practice.
