Lara Mataac, Constant Contact’s former top lawyer, has joined OneSpan as the Chicago-based publicly traded cybersecurity company’s general counsel and chief compliance officer. Mataac joins OneSpan at a critical juncture as it begins its transformation to drive accelerated growth and profitability.
Lara Mataac will lead the legal team while overseeing corporate governance and compliance and playing a key role in the company’s strategic formation.
OneSpan specializes in electronic signature software and other anti-fraud tech. The company states on its website that 60% of the world’s largest banks use its software, along with the U.S. Postal Service, IBM Corp. and the Tata Group, among other major companies.
Mataac joined OneSpan by way of Constant Contact, an online marketing company based in Waltham, Massachusetts. She stepped up to serve as the firm’s general counsel in April 2021, following the company’s spinout from Endurance International Group, where she’d served as deputy GC.
She oversaw EIG’s compliance, corporate governance, M&A and employment matters and led the legal effort behind the company’s $400 million initial public offering. Mataac first arrived at EIG in 2013 as corporate counsel and worked her way up the legal department ladder.
Earlier in her career, Mataac served as corporate legal director at software company Bottomline Technologies, after about seven years in Big Law at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr and Fenwick & West.
