Louise Pentland stepping down as Paypal’s Chief Legal Officer

Louise Pentland (pictured), who has led PayPal’s legal functions for nearly seven years, announced her resignation on LinkedIn on Tuesday.

Pentland wrote “I am stepping down from my role at PayPal as Chief Business Affairs and Legal Officer at the end of the year. This has been my dream job.
I am stepping down to seek renewal and creating space to do that”.

Pentland will step down from her role December 31 and will be succeeded by Bimal Patel (pictured left), a former head of the financial advisory and regulatory practice at O’Melveny & Myers who held a senior U.S. Treasury Department post during the Trump administration.

“I hired my successor for our Legal function in January 2021. Bimal Patel is the very best leader and General Counsel for the next chapter of PayPal Legal and I’m so happy to be handing over the baton on January 1, 2022. For now, I will keep focused on what I enjoy the most – helping my teams succeed.”, continued Pentland on her LinkedIn post.
