Lieb to retire as chief lawyer for international insurer Aon
London-based Aon plc says that Peter Lieb is retiring from the insurer after 10 years as executive vice president and general counsel. The company says that Lieb built a strong legal team. Now Aon will search for a leader to assume his responsibilities on a permanent basis.
Lieb has held various legal positions throughout his career, including in-house roles at NCR Corp., Symbol Technologies, and International Paper Co. Before going in-house back in the 1990s, Lieb was a partner at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue.
“Peter has had a distinguished 37-year legal career spanning the public and private sectors and we are grateful for his 10 years of service at Aon,” said Greg Case, Aon’s CEO. “I want to recognize him for his exceptional leadership and thank him for the outstanding team he has built. Peter’s contributions have further strengthened our firm and we wish him the best as he begins a new chapter.”
“It has been a privilege to serve my colleagues at Aon over the last ten years,” said Peter Lieb. “After almost 25 years in the private sector, working primarily as an in-house corporate lawyer, I’m energized by the idea of using my legal skills to give back to our community in new and different ways.”
Lieb will continue to serve as GC while the company searches for his replacement and then stay on as an advisor to the firm.
