DV Trading hires Kopiwoda for dual GC-COO role

The Chicago-based trading firm DV Trading has hired Jeffrey Kopiwoda as its chief operating officer and general counsel. DV has also promoted Shifra Katz to chief compliance officer.

In addition to overseeing DV’s legal affairs, Kopiwoda will be responsible for executing the firm’s business plans.   Before joining DV in 2016, Katz worked as an attorney for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the National Futures Association.

Having served as outside counsel to DV since 2013, Kopiwoda was instrumental in facilitating DV’s spin-out from Chicago-based brokerage firm Rosenthal Collins Group (RCG) in 2016. “We have repeatedly benefitted from Jeff’s judgment and legal acumen over the past six years,” said DV Co-Founder Jared Vegosen, “and we are looking forward to having him as a full-time member of our executive team to help us continue to scale and expand.”

Before joining DV, Kopiwoda was a partner at Chicago-based law firm Funkhouser Vegosen Liebman and Dunn, Ltd., where he represented banks, brokerage firms, hedge funds, private equity firms and proprietary trading firms. He will remain of counsel to the law firm.  Prior to re-joining FVLD in 2011, Kopiwoda spent nearly seven years as Chief Legal Officer of the European-based hedge fund platform Superfund, with offices in more than 20 countries and over $2 billion in assets.

Kopiwoda earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University’s College of Business, and a law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
