Credit card provider Discover finds a new chief legal officer
Credit card company Discover has a new chief legal officer and general counsel: Wanji Walcott. She replaces Discover’s former general counsel Kelly McNamara Corley, who retired earlier this year after 36 years with the company.
Walcott came from PayPal, where she was general counsel and has led the company’s legal department since 2017. While there, she started up PayPal’s pro bono program and has pressed for diversity in that company. Before that, Walcott spent 13 years with American Express where she last served as senior vice president, managing counsel for legal support in payments, e-commerce/social media initiatives and data security.
“Wanji’s extensive experience working with global payments organizations and navigating an evolving regulatory landscape will help guide our success and strategy for growth,” said Roger Hochschild, Discover’s CEO and president.
