Google’s top lawyer Catherine Lacavera joins healthcare company Color
Catherine Lacavera (pictured) is set to join Color Genomics, a provider of technology and infrastructure for large-scale health initiatives, as chief legal officer November 12. She replaces Sherwin Chen, who served as Color’s general counsel and corporate secretary until September. He’s now chief legal officer of AllStripes
Lacavera has been Google’s vice president of legal for the past 16 years. She manages more than 300 attorneys and technical advisers. She has overseen more than 1,000 patent infringement and other intellectual property matters. During her tenure with the company, she oversaw the landmark copyright victory against Oracle. Lacavera also has advised the company on acquisitions, licensing, competition, privacy, contract and regulatory investigations, negotiated with regulators, and advised on policy initiatives.
Prior to joining Google in 2005, Lacavera practiced law at White & Case for almost 4 years.
