BigBear.ai Holdings has hired lawyer Carolyn Blankenship as general counsel. The provider of artificial intelligence-powered analytics, has appointed Blankenship because her expertise in AI and business strategy will further strengthen the company’s growth.

Before joining BigBear.ai she served as as general counsel of innovation and product at Thomson Reuters, where she worked for 21 years. In that role, she organized and led a cross-functional team that outlined the corporation’s first set of data ethics principles.

She also led the intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions transactions totaling more than $20 billion, developed an IP strategy for the company, and negotiated a variety of licensing agreements. Before that, she was a vice president of Priceline and a senior associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

“Companies that foster creativity across all business functions become the true market disruptors. I was drawn to BigBear.ai because the leadership team has built a foundation for innovation, complemented by proven execution strategies and a warm culture,” Blankenship said in a statement.

Columbia, Maryland-based BigBear.ai formed in November 2021 through the merger of NuWave Solutions and PCI Strategic Management. The company went public through a special purpose acquisitions company merger last December.

“On the heels of becoming a publicly traded company, and with an aggressive M&A strategy for entering new commercial markets, her hiring positions us well for long-term success,” BigBear.ai CEO, Reggie Brothers, said.
