Bakkt added two attorneys to its Board of Directors
Digital asset platform Bakkt has added two female attorneys to its board of directors. The Georgia-based company is digital asset platform that enables consumers to buy, sell, send and spend a range of digital assets.
De’Ana H. Dow, partner and general counsel at Capitol Counsel (pictured left), and Jill Simeone, chief legal office and corporate secretary of Etsy (pictured right), are the latest additions to the company’s now 10-member board.
“They bring decades of experience in financial and retail sectors, adding to our board’s depth and breadth of expertise,” said Sean Collins, chair of the board of directors, in a statement. “Their insight and contributions will be extremely valuable as we execute on Bakkt’s strategic plans in 2022 and beyond. The multifaceted diversity of our board, bolstered further by our new directors, aligns with our core belief that differing perspectives strengthen our products and culture.”
Dow is an expert on financial markets and regulator issues. Her expertise includes knowledge of futures and derivatives markets as well as the policies, rules and regulations of the U.S Commodity Futures Trading Commission, where she served in senior legal and policy roles for more than two decades.
She has been at Capitol Counsel for more than nine years. Before that, she served as senior vice president of Ogilvy Government Relations, managing director of CME Group and senior vice president and chief legislative counsel at the New York Mercantile Exchange.
For her part, Simeone is an experienced general counsel with plenty of time advising boards. In the last five years at Etsy, she has become a trusted strategic advisor to the company’s board of directors, helping to deal with activism, management change, mergers and acquisition transactions and growth, the company said.
In her career, Simeone has worked on matters related to governance, executive compensation, compliance, risk management, and environmental, social and governance reporting.
She also advises Etsy’s committees, including ones on audit, compensation and nominating and governance. Simeone also leads the board’s investor governance outreach program.
Before her time at Etsy, Simeone worked as vice president, senior counsel and assistant secretary at American Express Global Business Travel. She’s also spent time as general counsel and chief compliance officer at KCAP Financial Inc., as a cyber lawyer for American Express, and general counsel for CEMEX North America.
