Athena Capital has a new deputy GC and chief compliance officer
Athena Capital Advisors says that Beth Lehman has joined the firm in a dual role, as deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer. Athena is a privately owned investment adviser based in Lincoln, Massachusetts. The firm says that Lehman will manage the regulatory compliance team and will be responsible for formulating and implementing all compliance policies and procedures within the firm. She will work closely with Athena Capital’s Client and Research teams to conduct due diligence and perform legal reviews on all alternative investments.
Before Athena, Lehman was GC and chief compliance officer at GW & Wade. She had also worked for KPMG in its Regulatory Risk and Compliance practice group and as Senior Counsel in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
“We are delighted to have Beth join our growing firm. Her vast experience leading compliance risk management practices in the financial services sector makes her a valuable addition to Athena Capital,” said Leonard L. Lewin, Athena Capital’s Managing Partner and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. “Beth brings to our organization nearly two decades of compliance and legal roles at both the Securities and Exchange Commission and prominent financial institutions.”
Lehman was the recipient of the SEC’s Chairman’s Award for work related to the collapse of Enron Corp. and its Division Director’s Award for work related to unlawful market timing activity at Prudential Securities. She received her JD/MBA from Suffolk Law School, concentration with distinction in financial services law, and her Bachelor of Arts, English, from Boston University.
