Penn Mutual life insurance promotes Ann-Marie Mason to chief legal officer
Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company has promoted the company’s general counsel asset management and broker dealer, Ann-Marie Mason (pictured) to chief legal officer. In this role, Mason will lead the law department in providing cohesive strategies and solutions to meet the evolving business needs of the company.
Mason joined Penn Mutual in 2019 as vice president and head of shared services for enterprise compliance. She was promoted a year later to general counsel of asset management and broker-dealer. Her promotion was at the same time that Frank Best was promoted to general counsel of insurance operations. The promotions of Best and Mason at the time were set to replace now-retired chief legal officer Kevin Reynolds. Mason joined Penn Mutual from FINRA, where she served as vice president and counsel. Prior to that, she was senior corporate counsel at Metropolitan Life. Before moving in-house, Mason worked as a litigation associate at Wade Clark Mulcahy and as an assistant district attorney in the Kings County District Attorneys Office.
Mason remains active in the community in a variety of roles. She is part of the Corporate Counsel Women of Color and is a member of the board of directors of Listen To Our Voices, a non-profit organization advocating for children and young adults.
