Executive recruitment platform True has tapped former CNBC lawyer Aisha Christian to be its first general counsel. Christian joins True from Kipp NYC, a network of private schools in New York, where she was general counsel for more than four years.
In her new role, Aisha Christian will oversee True’s corporate transactions, employment law, risk management, compliance, governance and mergers and acquisitions functions. True said Christian brings extensive corporate and professional search experience, as well as insight into how the legal department of a scaling organization should operate.
The firm, which launched in 2012 in Haddonfield, New Jersey, and Sunnyvale, California, with five people, now has more than 800 employees in 15 offices worldwide.
Before Kipp, Christian was general counsel at Rent the Runway, a platform for renting and purchasing secondhand clothing, and also spent six years as senior counsel for cable and compliance at CNBC/NBC Universal. She began her legal career as a securities associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell.
